Farm Info

Shet-Tu Sheep Farm was established in 2005. We are located just off I-25 across from Mead, Colorado. My goal is to breed "Traditional 1927" Shetland Sheep that conform to the 1927 standard, as clarified by Appendix A. My shetlands are fine fleeced and single coated. They are registered, not only with NASSA, but with the FFSSA registry. I do annual micron testing on all my sheep, to be certain they are maintaining the wool quality that is required by FFSSA and myself. As of Aug, 2016 my flock all tested OPP & B-Ovis negative.

Shetland Sheep Show at Estes

For those of you who don’t know, FFSSA is sponsoring it’s first Shetland sheep and fleece show at the Estes Park Wool Market on June, 11, 2016.  Jim Chastain, who is a long time Shetland breeder will judge both of these events.  They will both take place on Saturday, June 11th, with the fleece show being in the morning and the sheep show in the afternoon.

You can find more information like rules and entry form at the following link:

Sure hope to see you there.  It’s bound to be a good time and tremendous learning experience.

Yarrow wins at WSWF – 2015

20150912_144559

I knew Shet-Tu Yarrow was nice, but didn’t know how nice.  He won Reserve Champion and Best Fleece on Hoof at the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival in 2015.  To me, that is an extreme honor..because I know how tough the competition is there.

Yarrow (white ram lamb) and Saffron (ewe lamb) were born this morning to Shet-Tu Divinity x Shet-Tu Palmer.  One might think that after all the other lambs born, that this would be no big deal, at this point.  But, each time I just love the new babies and think that they are my favorite.  I love this white ram lamb.  He is perfect.    If I wanted a white ram, he would be a keeper.  And, even though I brag so much about him, that is not to diminish the cuteness of Saffron.  She is smallish and adorable.  I saw a couple of people post on Facebook how the small ones were they’re favorite, and I can sure understand why.  They just capture your heart, and you just want to hold and cuddle them.

Shet-Tu Iris (darker lamb) and Laurel greeted me when I got home from work today.  Twin ewe lambs, no fooling.  Woot Woot.  I’m now at 5 girls and 4 boys.  Two more  ewes to lamb.

4/22/15 I believe I will be keeping the darker ewe lamb.  I’m only keeping 1 or 2 this year.   The rest will be for sale.
